Forest Oaks Country Club golf course first opened for play in 1962. The course was designed by Ellis Maples. In 2003 the course was rennovated and updated by Davis Love III. He brought a appreciation and historical perspective to the rennovation, in part because he had played here in his college golfing days as a member of the University of North Carolina golf team.
Carved from North Carolina hardwoods, Forest Oaks Country Club golf course was built on large rolling hills. Many of its greens are elevated. There are many grass bunkers and sand bunkers throughout the course. Additionally, there are water hazards that come into play on many holes.

This course is a private and must be played with a member. It has been the home for The Wyndhamm Championship. A great play, and if you ever get to play it do. A Davis Love III course, it is a great layout and makes you think of your next shot and how you want to shape your shot. Huge greens makes a need to know where the pin placements is to score good. A challenging course and a must play if you get the chance.
